The Qu?bec ski industry was born in Saint-Sauveur-des-Monts, a small village in the Laurentians which rapidly became the cradle of skiing. In 1934, an American industrialist, Fred Pabst, installed the first permanent ski lift on Hill 70, soon to be the most famous hill in Eastern North America. Eleven years later, a group of businessmen acting on their enthusiasm for the sport joined Mr. Victor Nymark to found UPHILL LTD., a company which was to play a major role in the development of the site. In 1948, the first T-bar in North America, imported from Austria, was installed on Hill 71.| Vertical Drop: | 699 ft
