Le Massif started out in 1970. Studies were undertaken to determine the potential of the mountain as an international winter sports center. In 1979, the Government revised its policy on downhill skiing and declared a five-year moratorium on the development of Le Massif. In 1981, the Soci?t? de D?veloppement du Massif de Petite-Rivi?re-Saint-Fran?ois Inc. was founded by a group of regional representatives. A rental contract was signed. A unique combination of downhill skiing on natural snow with bus transportation was created. The formula was the following: skiers were bussed to the top of the mountain where they skied 4 to 5 runs a day with a guide assuring their security. | Vertical Drop: | 2527 ft
