Talisman Mountain Resort opened its doors on Christmas Eve 1963. In the early 80's the resort ran into financial difficulties and it was sold to Jake Hammer, ex. General Manager and current real estate developer.

Upon turning towards the lodge, Hammer was greeted by a river rushing through the hotel lobby creating a waterfall of broken furniture and muddy water flowing down the main steps. The water pipes had burst in the lodge, creating an interesting welcome to the resort business!

Things did pick up under Jake Hammer's direction. The Hammer's have invested well over $12 million since purchasing it in 1983.
