Villars
Thursday, 05 April 2007
Villars is a pretty, traditional Swiss resort on a sunny south-west facing plateau above the Rhone Valley. The large ski area reached by funicular will suit most skiers, with a horizontal chair lift link to the village of Les Diablerets established as recently as 1997, giving ultimate access to the excellent year-round summer skiing above on the Diablerets glacier.

Villars has been a famous health resort for many years, with visitors arriving by rail in large numbers since the start of the twentieth century. Today the resort continues to stress both its family-friendly skiing and its decision to endeavour to offer its guests the highest standards in all the aspects which make up a wonderful holiday. The resort also has an unusual reputation - as a centre of educational excellence - there are no less than six establishments offering courses in languages, sports and many other academic disciplines.

Villars, Les Diablerets and many more resorts are on the Ski Gala Pass, Switzerland and one of the world's largest lift pass schemes with a dozen or so medium to  large ski areas linked by the excellent Swiss rail and bus  transport system, included freely with the pass (as is entry to the swimming pool in Gstaad). Apart from Gstaad, the pass also cover Ch?teau d'Oex, Adelboden, Gsteig, Lenk, Les Mosses, Leysin, Rougemont, Saanen, Saanenmoser, St Stephan, Sch?nried and Zweisimmen.
