Crans-Montana
05 април 2007
Once two separate villages, Crans and Montana officially merged in the 1960's. Together they have a 40,000 bed base and are 6 km long, with a modern, lively and cosmopolitan atmosphere. The resort also boasts breath-taking views of the Alps, from the Matterhorn to Mont Blanc.

Famous for its pure mountain air, Crans Montana today is a large, cosmopolitan resort. It boasts over 80 international restaurants, an excellent range of shops, lively nightlife and culture, a comprehensive program of activities and a wide ranging choice of sporting activities beyond skiing - the main one in the summer being golf (although there are lift-linked golf courses open in winter at Sierre down in the valley). A free bus service links all the different sections of the resort.

One of the world's sunniest skiing destinations, the ski range is from 1,476 metres (nearly 5,000 feet) up to 3,000 metres (nearly 10,000 feet). Crowned by the Plain-Morte glacier, guaranteeing skiing throughout the season, the vertical drop is a respectable 1524 metres (5000 feet).

Crans Montana's skiing is divided into three areas, all linked to one another by lifts. The biggest is Cry d'Err, the second Violettes (location of many of the resort's tougher runs) and third Aminoma, which is above the purpose built center of the same name. Every year a number of FIS World Cup events are staged at Crans Montana including men's and women's downhill, super-G, giant slalom and slalom.
