Adelboden
05 април 2007
Adelboden is a good choice for anyone looking for an unspoiled, idyllic Swiss village. The town has old wooden chalets lining the main street and a spectacular backdrop of 3000 metre high Alps, dominated locally by the Wildstrubel mountauin. Famous resorts like Gstaad and Wengen are nearby.

The ski area is extensive at 1130 km and linked to the neighbouring village of Lenk, but it is fragmented into six different sectors linked only by road, which is the main drawback. The Geils area is the largest and one of the best for advanced skiers who'll find entertaining descents alongside the Laveygrat chair.

Not quite as quiet as you might imagine in the evenings, but much of the action is behind closed doors in the big hotels. The Alte Taverne in the Nevada Palace Hotel (which also has a pool open to the public) is one of the livliest spots.
