We considered all runs to be one grade up from marked (i.e. blue run is more like red). There are two 'hills' separated by two bridges over the main road. And from 0900 to 1100 on the farther hill is empty slopes time for a good thigh workout. This resort is currently only served by Neilson Travel (first season for them apparently) who we've not used before and who were very good. Only other visitors were southern Swedes on their annual "sports week" holiday.

Following two to three weeks will see Swedes from the middle and then those from the north taking their holiday weeks in turn. Hotel was excellent - top notch food and service, free sauna, full size sports hall, pool table, drying rooms, secure ski store, several bars and restaurants, packed apres-ski venue with good band (1! 500-1700 hours daily), integral and extensive ski hire / shop and cafe. Hire skis sharpened again and again for free or 250 Swedish kroner a time for your own. Boots, poles and skis for six day hire at 750 Swedish kroner or 850 for latest kit (say Atomic Carving). We found a lot of new kit cheaper than UK prices.

Skiers there last week included alpine, nordic, boarders, off-piste, telemark and ski-cross (big international ski-cross competition due there shortly). Supermarket (ICA) next door to hotel open 0900-2000 at reasonable prices for your self-catering stuff (everything including socks, huge range of licorice, soft toys and mangoes etc) and your sauna beer ....when in Sweden...(bring your own wine and spirits or order through the holiday rep). Some self-catering lodges are ON the slopes. Many Swedes speak good English and T-bar conversations are easy and interesting. Instructors were excellent and included ex-Swedish national team members who still compete in ski-cross! , etc.

There's a weekly slalom competition open to all for 20 Swedish kroner. Lift pass (about 70 pounds sterling for six days) is also valid for Bjornrike (less steep slopes and all south facing) and Klovsjo/Storhogna), both available by free ski-bus connecting all three resorts twice daily. It was -2 to +2 for our time there and mostly sunny PLUS good snow. Also available are sleigh / sled rides (horses and dogs). This review may sound a bit too keen - put it down to a much needed break if you wish, but we've been on slopes in the US, Canada, Austria, Norway and Italy and have yet to find such a genuinely friendly place. When you go (do it before it gets "discovered"), try the snomobiles....into the middle of nowhere with a huge 360 view, then across a frozen lake at 60mph.....
