La Clusaz
05 април 2007
A mountain resort destination since the early 1900's, La Clusaz has managed to grow big without sacrificing it's Savoyard roots or indulging in huge concrete appartment block construction. La Clusaz is a traditional French village with old wooden chalets alongside more modern architecture. It's a lively town with a reputation for staging international competitions in disciplines such as freestyle and telemark.

While predominantly an intermediate skier's resort, there's some great advanced-level terrain beneath the Massif De Balme. The Aravis lift pass takes in neighbouring Le Grand Bornand giving a total of 200km of trails. This is one of the few French resorts which manages to hit the middle ground between French exclusiveness and bland concrete metropolis with great skiing. It's large and traditional, but still has a big ski area. As with many major French resorts theres a lot of road traffic, so remember your Green Cross code.

Predominantly French in atmosphere, this is an ideal choice if you want to stuff your face with mouth watering fare from the creperies and patisseries without having to overhear your fellow countrymen loudly ordering burgers and chips (cringe). The trendiest nightspot is the L'Ecluse disco which has a floodlit stream running beneath the glass dance floor. Classy!
