Lillehammer, the site of the 1994 Winter Olympics, is known for some of the finest nordic skiing in Europe, with a giant trail system of about 400 km (250 miles). The Olympic Center, located near the center of town, offers skating, ski jumping and a small downhill run. Within a half hour of Lillehammer there are a number of alpine ski areas, including:
