Seefeld Tirol
Saturday, 31 March 2007
Although not as internationally well known as St. Moritz, Seefeld is a complete winter and summer destination resort with an array of four and five star hotels.

Given Seefeld's success, the local ski area is surprisingly not very exciting by modern standards with a 900 meter (3000 feet) vertical between a relatively low 1200-2100 meters (3800-6500 feet). Three-quarters of the lifts are surface and there is only a single, albeit impressive, black run. However, the resort is included on the "Happy Pass" with major German resorts such as Garmisch and Mittenwald. The pass offers ten times the terrain (280+ km) at up to 2900 meters (9500 feet) in altitude, although much of it is in rather small, fragmented ski areas similar to Seefeld's.

Off-the-slopes, Seefeld really comes in to its own. Apr?s ski is often lively and choices include badminton, bowling, gambling in the casino, curling, indoor golf, horseback riding, paragliding, sleigh rides, tubing and 60km (35 miles) of marked, winter walking routes.
