Alpine Lake was presented an "Award for Excellence" by the West Virginia Department of Commerce, which cited the community for careful ecological planning in preserving the natural beauty and resources of the area through stringent controls. Designed around nature, that's Alpine Lake Resort and Conference Center.
The natural wilderness that is "Wild, Wonderful West Virginia" is enhanced by this 2,300 acre development. Uncrowded development began in the late 1960s and life here is still privately woodsy. A beautiful lake, fed by springs and wooded mountain streams, provides the community's focal point. Like a ship's prow, the rustic lodge presides over the southern end of the lake. The scenic golf course stretches along the same end and features a tenth hole with water on three sides.
